Aoos is a river of Epirus with a total length of 260 km. Aoos Springs is an artificial lake manufactured in 1987 at an altitude of 1340m aiming at the production of electric energy, however, it later became a particularly important biotope for the region. The waters of the lake, where limited amateur fishery is exercised, have been enriched with fish and are interrupted by small islands overgrown with black pine, beech, and cedar.

Aoos Springs Lake is undoubtedly the most spectacular place near Metsovo and one of the most beautiful of Epirus. The contact with the natural environment will relax you and you will enjoy the gorgeous landscape with the tops of Pindos unfolding around. If you visit in winter there is a great chance to see the landscape in snow, a spectacle that really cuts the breath!
