As we dive into the extremes of our home country, you will be embraced with an endless source of surprise and fascination. There is no doubt that Greece is much more than just the most beautiful country on earth. It is History, Culture, Nature, a brand new way of living!

As you unwind among its best-kept secrets, this heaven will ignite a sort of awakening and it will inspire and overwhelm you with passion for nature and life.

THE JOURNEY

Our tour of Amazing Aegean starts from Athens, the capital of Civilization and charming contradictions. We welcome you under the stars, with dramatic views of the Acropolis and a delicious Greek dinner. The next day, you have a life-changing experience with our in-depth private guided tour of Athens. The same evening you travel to unspoiled Crete by boat, gazing at the endless blue horizon and its incredible islet spots. You enjoy a romantic dinner on board and spend the night in luxury cabins.

Take your first Cretan breakfast at a traditional village with wonderful scenery. Get the most from a hands-on cooking class with local ingredients from the organic kitchen garden and taste your own dishes after having a unique guided visit and a real insight into a typical local house where a Cretan welcome awaits you with tales of Cretan past, present, and tradition. A short stop on the way at the wood workshop of Manolis, a must-meet Cretan. Follow the route from the beehive to the jar and taste the Cretan honey. Check in to one of the most exquisite hotels on the island and relax in its spacious swimming pool.

After your unique buffet breakfast at your luxury hotel, visit the oldest olive tree in the world which is estimated to be at least 4000 years old. Prepare to have your senses delightfully awakened as you take a stroll to discover the botanical gems of the island at the Botanical Park of Chania. Have lunch made with the freshest possible ingredients from the local garden before driving to the charming Venetian port of Chania. Visit the Aptera archaeological site which once was an important city-state of Crete, dating back as far as the 14th century BC. End your magical day in Rethymno, a city that combines the oriental features of the Ottoman period with Renaissance-style Venetian architecture.

Explore the narrow streets of the small Venetian harbor of Rethymno, filled with fishing boats and an impressive Venetian Fortress, and visit the small but mighty Archaeological Museum with its many treasures from different ancient Cretan eras. Enter the magic atmosphere of a Venetian mansion that dates back to the 1600s and offers local Cretan and Mediterranean delicacies to avid gastronomes. Have the chance to discover the secrets of the Greek liquid gold known as extra virgin olive oil and have a gastronomic experience with surprising Cretan dishes before you visit the Palace of Knossos, the capital of the legendary King Minos. The Palace of Knossos is a must-see, a testimony to the grandeur and refinement of Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations.

Catch the morning ferry and arrive at Santorini at noon, the Aegean’s gem. Discover the unique local grape varieties found there as you enjoy a winery tour and pairing at Santo Wines. Relax in the unparalleled luxury of your 5-star hotel which “appears” to be clinging to the steep hillside of Imerovigli and visit the most iconic place in Greece, Oia, where you will have a romantic dinner while watching the burnt orange sunset.

Drive to Akrotiri, the ruins of a city dating back to the 4th millennium BC, and have a private guided tour of the magnificent archaeological site. Continue with a visit to Megalochori, a traditional and quiet village of Santorini, and dive into a journey of a one-of-a-kind musical presentation that creates an interactive trip using mythological narration and fifteen hand-crafted wind and string instruments. Visit Fira, the main town of Santorini, and participate in a Greek Wedding, a unique musical designed for travelers who want to engage with the local culture in an entertaining way. As with all weddings, you will dive right into the mix of this life-changing ceremony and seamlessly become part of the story. While the customs are absolutely traditional rest assured that the experience is not!

Wave goodbye to the lost Atlantis, catch the ferry and have lunch on board. End your tour in the center of Athens. Private transfer to the airport upon request.

Very knowledge tour guide who assures the best accommodations, finds the most delicious foods and restaurants that are often not known to most, and hires the best guides. George’s planning is exceptional. I have never experienced this level of excellence on a tour. I traveled alone but did meet up with others unknown to me on the tour. George demands the highest level of service from himself and others. He also made adjustments to the schedule based on requests when possible.

This trip was worth every cent! George is a true professional, who manages the experience to a level of detail which makes the trip run so smoothly. His pre-trip communication was timely and informative. He runs a very ethical business, and it is apparent he is well-known through out the tour destinations. He secured the best of hotels and restaurants for our two week tour of Greece, including the mainland, Crete, and Santorini. All events and tour stops, ran on time; we never waited for a bus as George had the timing of all activities scheduled to the minute. We had the right blend of scheduled activities, balanced with unscheduled free time. I can’t say enough about this experience. You will not be disappointed traveling with George of Pictours of Greece.

5 star experience for the “Amazing Aegean” tour. Some reasons why we booked, and how the experience exceeded our expectations: 1. Small group. We were seeking a small intimate setting that would allow us to enjoy each destination and setting without feeling like we were part of a “tour” being in a herd of people. Especially during Covid, we wanted to feel safe. Our small group size was ideal and it was so easy to get around. 2. Seamless Organization. We wanted an “all inclusive” type tour where we could both enjoy our trip without having to worry about all the logistics of how to get from place to place, booking tickets, researching the best hotels, activities, etc. George handled everything from the moment we landed. He arranged a car to drive us from the airport to the hotel, handled all the hotel reservations and the check in process was quick and easy at each destination. At no point were we waiting in long lines or wasting time with paperwork etc as everything was pre-arranged. Everything was seamless. George is an expert and has great connections everywhere so we were treated to the best private experiences and seats wherever we went. 3. Thoughtful Itinerary. Each day was thoughtfully planned so that we got the most out of our experience. We saw historic sites, beautiful views, went to off the beaten path and non-touristy destinations. Heavier walking days were followed by more leisurely activities the following day, so that we always comfortable and rested. I cannot pick what was the highlight of the tour as there was such great variety in our activities and sights… each day was amazing. 4. Dining/Food. George is a foodie and took us to the best restaurants. We tried a wide variety of the best greek dishes from local dishes, to gourmet. Most nights our dinners were accompanied by fantastic views. Delicious desserts 🙂 5. The Guide. If you are lucky enough to have Babis as your guide, you will know your experience will be unmatched. He is a wealth of knowledge and gave the us best lessons in greek history, mythology, & culture. There is nothing he doesn’t know!! He was so professional, friendly, passionate, and so knowledgable in every subject! He is completely fluent in Greek & English and honestly, his english vocabulary is probably more extensive than mine hah! He is just excellent! 6. Attention to detail. The smaller things George did to make sure our experience was comfortable was greatly appreciated. He tidied up the car each night so that each day began fresh with a clean van and a new water bottle on our seats. He brought the van on the ferry to the different islands and travel was so convenient. Roads in Greece are narrow and especially in Santorini, the terrain in difficult to drive but George is an excellent and safe driver. Our trip was an unforgettable and treasured experience. Although George and Babis have done these tours numerous times, their passion and excitement taking us to each destination made our whole trip! We already look forward to our next booking with PicTours of Greece so we can see our new friends again 🙂
