Let us take you by the hand and immerse you in the vibrant spirit of Greek life through exploration, adventure, flavors, and hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Traveling in Greece is more than just indulging in exquisite food and wine; itโ€™s about stepping beyond your comfort zone, embracing unforgettable experiences, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

As we guide you through the diverse wonders of our homeland, youโ€™ll be captivated by its endless beauty, history, and culture. Greece is more than just a destinationโ€”itโ€™s a rich mosaic of traditions, breathtaking landscapes, and a timeless spirit.

Unwind, explore, and let Greece awaken your senses, ignite your passion for nature, and inspire a newfound love for life.

THE JOURNEY

Our Paradisial Peloponnese tour begins in Athens, the cradle of Western civilization. Under a starlit sky and with sweeping views of the illuminated Acropolis, you’ll enjoy a warm welcome and a delectable Greek dinner, a perfect prelude to the journey ahead.

Embark on an in-depth private guided tour of Athens, where youโ€™ll delve into the cityโ€™s rich history, ancient landmarks, and vibrant culture with our expert local guide. Visit iconic sites like the Acropolis, Parthenon, Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Panathenaic Stadium, while uncovering the fascinating stories behind each. Visit the Acropolis Museum, where youโ€™ll marvel at the treasures that bring Athensโ€™ ancient past to life. Explore charming neighborhoods and hidden historical gems, with personalized insights along the way. This exclusive experience invites you to immerse yourself in Athens at your own pace, ensuring an unforgettable journey through Greeceโ€™s timeless capital.

Travel to the Corinth Canal and experience the engineering marvel of a stunning 6.3 km (3.9 miles) waterway that connects the Aegean and Ionian Seas, separating the Peloponnese peninsula from mainland Greece. Spend the night in Nafplion, the first capital of Greece and one of its most romantic cities. Wander its elegant alleyways, admire the Venetian architecture, and witness a sunset that sets the Argolic Gulf ablaze. End your day by discovering the flavors of the Aegean in a seafood cooking presentation led by a local chef, then savor your creations with stunning views of Nafplionโ€™s harbor.

Visit the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, celebrated for its perfect acoustics and architectural harmony. Then head to Nemea, where youโ€™ll taste the legendary Agiorgitiko wine, known as the “Blood of Hercules”, steeped in myth and history. According to ancient tales, when Hercules defeated the Nemean Lion and wore its invulnerable skin as a cloak, the blood of the lion is said to have given rise to the deep red hue of Agiorgitiko wine. Afterwards, visit a hidden gem of Greece, Ancient Nemea. Explore the remains of the Doric-style Temple of Zeus, dating back to the 6th century BC, and the Nemean Stadium, where youโ€™re welcome to run on the original track just like ancient athletes once did.

Uncover the secrets of Mycenae, a powerful civilization from 1600โ€“1100 BC. Stand before the monumental Lion Gate and descend into the Treasury of Atreus, believed to be Agamemnon’s tomb. Visit the Monument of Leonidasย in Sparta,ย a tribute to the legendary warrior-king who led the 300 Spartans in their heroic stand against the Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. Reach Monemvasia, a remarkably well-preserved medieval castle town, dramatically hidden from the mainland. The unique ambiance of the castle offers visitors a journey back in time, a benchmark for their traveling experience.

Journey through the scenic Peloponnesian hills to Ancient Messene, one of Greeceโ€™s most extensive and well-preserved archaeological sites. Discover its grand theater, stadium, and imposing fortification walls, set in a peaceful valley surrounded by lush mountainsโ€”a true window into the past. Make your way to Pylos, a serene seaside town steeped in history.

Explore the imposing Castle of Pylos (Niokastro), a fortress that has guarded the bay for centuries. Then visit the Palace of Nestor, one of the best-preserved Mycenaean palaces, offering a fascinating glimpse into Bronze Age Greece with its megaron hall, storerooms, and ancient tablets that reference early Greek writing (Linear B). The views of the surrounding countryside are just as inspiring as the history.

Step into the sacred grounds of Ancient Olympia, where athletes competed for eternal glory over 2,000 years ago. Walk the historic stadium, and imagine the splendor of the colossal Statue of Zeus, once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Enjoy trout fishing in Planiteroโ€™s calm rivers, where every catch feels like a reward. Stroll along the magical riverbanks and immerse yourself in their enchanting beauty. Then journey to Kalavryta, a picturesque mountain town steeped in history and surrounded by breathtaking nature. Whether blanketed in snow during winter or bursting with greenery in spring, the stunning landscape never fails to captivate.

Delve into the poignant stories of World War II at the Kalavryta Museum, a site that honors the regionโ€™s strength and resilience. Then board the historic Odontotos Rack Railway, a marvel of 19th-century engineering, for a breathtaking ride through the dramatic Vouraikos Gorge.

Venture to Ancient Corinth, nestled in fertile plains and sustained by natural springs. Wander through the Temple of Apollo, the Agora, and well-preserved ruins that echo the grandeur of Greeceโ€™s classical era. Conclude your tour in Athens.

This was our 2nd tour with George, and it was *just right*. We had high expectations after our Amazing Aegean trip in April 2023, and everything met or exceeded our hopes. It’s like traveling with friends who want to share all the best parts of their home with guests. The best part of the Pictours of Greece tours is that once we get off the flight in Athens, we don’t think about anything again. Not where to go, what to see, what the hours are, how to navigate transit, not even what to order at a restaurant. The hardest decision is what to choose at the included hotel buffet breakfast. A true break from work and home routines. Vivi was an excellent guide, and as always, with Pictours, having the same guide for the whole trip from the Acropolis in Athens to all the other ancient sites, helps tie the history together. Every hotel was charming, every meal was delicious. Our dietary preferences were considered at each restaurant, and there were seldom repeats — we enjoyed the specialties of each region, and George worked with the restaurants to find excellent alternatives for a vegetarian when the specialties were seafood or lamb. The only thing not perfect was a bit of rain & wind, but George & Vivi worked to ensure we had great visits and shuffled the schedule as needed to work with the unpredictable spring weather. It’s still worth visiting Greece in April and early May — mostly warm, with very few visitors, and only a little rain. Now, I’m just trying to find a George to take us our Ireland, Norway, and a few other bucket list destinations, and we’ll definitely be back – we still have the Mystical Mainland itinerary to try.
