Explore charming neighborhoods and hidden historical gems, with personalized insights along the way. This exclusive experience invites you to immerse yourself in Athens at your own pace, ensuring an unforgettable journey through Greeceโs timeless capital.
Travel to the Corinth Canal and experience the engineering marvel of a stunning 6.3 km (3.9 miles) waterway that connects the Aegean and Ionian Seas, separating the Peloponnese peninsula from mainland Greece. Spend the night in Nafplion, the first capital of Greece and one of its most romantic cities. Wander its elegant alleyways, admire the Venetian architecture, and witness a sunset that sets the Argolic Gulf ablaze. End your day by discovering the flavors of the Aegean in a seafood cooking presentation led by a local chef, then savor your creations with stunning views of Nafplionโs harbor.
Visit the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, celebrated for its perfect acoustics and architectural harmony. Then head to Nemea, where youโll taste the legendary Agiorgitiko wine, known as the “Blood of Hercules”, steeped in myth and history. According to ancient tales, when Hercules defeated the Nemean Lion and wore its invulnerable skin as a cloak, the blood of the lion is said to have given rise to the deep red hue of Agiorgitiko wine. Afterwards, visit a hidden gem of Greece, Ancient Nemea. Explore the remains of the Doric-style Temple of Zeus, dating back to the 6th century BC, and the Nemean Stadium, where youโre welcome to run on the original track just like ancient athletes once did.
Uncover the secrets of Mycenae, a powerful civilization from 1600โ1100 BC. Stand before the monumental Lion Gate and descend into the Treasury of Atreus, believed to be Agamemnon’s tomb. Visit the Monument of Leonidasย in Sparta,ย a tribute to the legendary warrior-king who led the 300 Spartans in their heroic stand against the Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. Reach Monemvasia, a remarkably well-preserved medieval castle town, dramatically hidden from the mainland. The unique ambiance of the castle offers visitors a journey back in time, a benchmark for their traveling experience.
Journey through the scenic Peloponnesian hills to Ancient Messene, one of Greeceโs most extensive and well-preserved archaeological sites. Discover its grand theater, stadium, and imposing fortification walls, set in a peaceful valley surrounded by lush mountainsโa true window into the past. Make your way to Pylos, a serene seaside town steeped in history.
Explore the imposing Castle of Pylos (Niokastro), a fortress that has guarded the bay for centuries. Then visit the Palace of Nestor, one of the best-preserved Mycenaean palaces, offering a fascinating glimpse into Bronze Age Greece with its megaron hall, storerooms, and ancient tablets that reference early Greek writing (Linear B). The views of the surrounding countryside are just as inspiring as the history.
Step into the sacred grounds of Ancient Olympia, where athletes competed for eternal glory over 2,000 years ago. Walk the historic stadium, and imagine the splendor of the colossal Statue of Zeus, once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Enjoy trout fishing in Planiteroโs calm rivers, where every catch feels like a reward. Stroll along the magical riverbanks and immerse yourself in their enchanting beauty. Then journey to Kalavryta, a picturesque mountain town steeped in history and surrounded by breathtaking nature. Whether blanketed in snow during winter or bursting with greenery in spring, the stunning landscape never fails to captivate.
Delve into the poignant stories of World War II at the Kalavryta Museum, a site that honors the regionโs strength and resilience. Then board the historic Odontotos Rack Railway, a marvel of 19th-century engineering, for a breathtaking ride through the dramatic Vouraikos Gorge.
Venture to Ancient Corinth, nestled in fertile plains and sustained by natural springs. Wander through the Temple of Apollo, the Agora, and well-preserved ruins that echo the grandeur of Greeceโs classical era. Conclude your tour in Athens.
