An in-depth private guided tour of Athens, the capital of Civilization and of charming contradictions, specially crafted for those who want to explore the highlights of the city in one day and visit the colorful countryside afterward.
Experience the dazzling modernist Acropolis Museum and reveal layers of history dating back to the 6th century BC. Head towards the Herodion and Dionysos Theatre built on the slopes of the Acropolis. Reach the top of the Acropolis and witness the wonder of Ancient Greek architecture, the Parthenon.
Head downwards to the Ancient Agora, the commercial and social heart of the ancient city, and visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Hephaestus, the best-preserved classical monument in the whole country today.
Enjoy a delicious authentic Greek lunch and afterward explore the old city of Athens, Plaka, stroll around its small streets and various ancient monuments and shops, and experience the ambiance of what Athens looked like before it became the modern city of today.
View the Temple of Olympian Zeus, one of the biggest temples ever built in Athens, dating back to the 2nd century A.D., by Emperor Hadrian, and enjoy the 16 massive columns still standing to this day.
Relax in the beautiful Zappeion Gardens, with a short stop for a coffee or refreshments, followed by a stop at Zappeion Hall and a view to the Panathenaic Stadium, an ancient Stadium originally built in 338 B.C., but reconstructed in the 19th century to host the revival of the Olympic Games in 1896.
Walk towards the buzzing Syntagma Square and witness the Presidential Guards on duty in front of the Greek Parliament, before returning to your hotel.
TOUR INFORMATION
Meeting Point
The meeting point is in your hotel lobby at 9:00 am where our tour guide will be waiting for you. Please add a note with the name of your hotel while booking for this tour.
If your hotel is not within walking distance from the center (less than 1km), you are responsible for being at the meeting point by your means of transportation, which in this case is the entrance of the Acropolis Museum. To get there, you can use the metro and exit at Acropolis station (red line). Our tour guide will be waiting for you at the museum entrance at 9:00 am (under the characteristic ancient marble statue of an owl).
Duration
Our private guided tour of Athens lasts 8 hours, from 9 am to 5 pm including a stop for lunch and a short stop for coffee.
Guide
The guide is certified to offer private tours in museums and archaeological sites and has excellent knowledge of Ancient and Modern Greek history. The speaking language can be English, Russian, German, French, or Italian and can be selected under the third section of the booking procedure.
Museum & Archaeological site tickets
All museum tickets are included in the cost of the tour.
Lunch
An authentic GREEK LUNCH with a drink is included in the cost of the tour and is offered in one of the best restaurants downtown.
A COFFEE or refreshment is also included in the cost of the tour and is offered a few hours after lunch in a nice cafeteria of the center.
In case some of our clients have special food requirements we can provide vegetarian meals. Please feel free to ask us any questions you may have about food, we shall make our best to please you.
Group Size
This tour is made for SMALL PRIVATE GROUPS of 12 people maximum. If you are a bigger group of people please send us a request.
Hygiene Measures
All our restaurant partners follow hygiene protocols, appropriate physical distancing of tables and other public areas. All museums and sites we will visit during the tour are now fully complying with the hygiene standards.

This tour involves a lot of walking. If you have mobility issues or concerns, please check with us ahead of booking to determine if this trip is right for you.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is not allowed inside the archaeological sites, museums, and restaurants we visit.
Payment Methods
We offer three payment methods: online payments, payment links, and bank transfers. If you wish to make an online payment please note that we accept VISA, MASTERCARD, and MAESTRO cards. If you make a bank transfer you can submit the payment receipt from your bank on your dashboard page and wait for the verification process. Your booking will be automatically canceled if the payment is not processed within 7 days.
After communicating with PICTOURS OF GREECE, a tailor-made payment plan (number of installments, due dates, etc.) can be arranged.

Cancellation Policy
If you decide to cancel or change your booking in any way (your chosen departure date, passenger’s name, etc), please note that a fee will be payable unless your request is sent 30 days before departure (60 days as of June 1st, 2024). Any request must be made in writing.
